POSITION TITLE: Cornely Postdoctoral Fellowship, Residential Training Program
LOCATION: Center for Research on Ethnicity, Culture, and Health (CRECH) University of Michigan, School of Public Health
START DATE: September 2013
DESCRIPTION
The Center for Research on Ethnicity, Culture, and Health (CRECH) is accepting applications for the two-year Paul B. Cornely Postdoctoral Fellowship sponsored by the University of Michigan School of Public Health. The Paul B. Cornely Postdoctoral Program is designed for early career doctoral scholars conducting research on the clarification, reduction, and elimination of racial and ethnic health disparities. The Paul B. Cornely Postdoctoral Fellowship Selection Committee is particularly interested in receiving applications from students who come from educational, cultural or geographic backgrounds that are underrepresented in the area of public health either at the University of Michigan or in the United States. The program is also interested in applicants who have demonstrated commitment to diversity in public health through their research experience and community engagement. By diversity, we mean efforts to reduce social, educational or economic disparities based on race, ethnicity or gender, or to improve race relations in the United States. Applications are welcome from all candidates who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents dedicated to research on racial and ethnic disparities.
THE PROGRAM
The Cornely Postdoctoral Scholar will be chosen for residence during 2011-2013. The Paul B. Cornely Postdoctoral program is designed to facilitate acquisition and enhancement of research and writing skills necessary for a career in academia. The Cornely Postdoctoral Scholar will spend the majority of time preparing manuscripts for publication and will work closely with a University of Michigan School of Public Health faculty member working in a similar research area.
STIPEND AND ALLOWANCE
The fellowship package includes an annual stipend of $40,000, health benefits, support for travel to one professional meeting per year, and research-related expenses.
