Cornely Postdoctoral Fellow, 2012-2013

Dr. Rohan D. Jeremiah is an Anthropologist and Global Public Health Specialist, with a Ph.D. in Applied Medical Anthropology from the University of South Florida, an M.P.H in Health Behavior and Health Education with a Global Health Concentration from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, and a B.S. in Anthropology from Michigan State University. His dissertation research examined the intersectionality of gender and sexuality, as they relate to health behavioral outcomes such as violence and reproductive health practices. The study was situated within a United Nations sponsored-intervention program for Caribbean men.  

In addition to his research interests, Rohan has more than fifteen years of global health experience including Peace Corps Volunteer service in Cameroon and South Africa, as well as research and studied exposures throughout Europe, South Asia and the Caribbean. While conducting his dissertation research in the Caribbean, Rohan was a faculty member in the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. Concurrently, he served as a technical advisor to regional and international organizations such as United Nations Women (UNWomen); United States President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR); United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Organization of American States (OAS).  At CRECH, Rohan plans to expand his intersectionality research into the Caribbean Diaspora of the United States with a specific focus on men’s health issues.
